How Metal Braces Build Smiles
At Morgan Orthodontics, we offer modern metal braces that are more compact, concealed, and comfortable than ever. These durable and cost-effective braces are excellent for tackling complex tooth issues, aligning teeth, and closing gaps.

Brackets
These little powerhouses are crafted from a blend of stainless steel and other sturdy metals. They come with tiny hooks or latch doors where a wire slides through. You'll see the door snap shut or an elastic looped over the wire to keep it in place.
Archwire
This slender metal line connects one bracket to another. Our docs will adjust its shape to guide your teeth where they need to go. Most of the time, the wire will link all your upper or lower teeth, but occasionally, we'll snip it to focus on just a few.
Orthodontic Bands
Think of these as the anchors of your braces. Made from stainless steel, they're glued to your teeth and can hold other orthodontic gadgets in place. But don't worry—they’re painless, and only some people need them.
Elastic Ties/O-Rings/Ligatures/Colors
Meet the fashionistas of the braces world! These mini rubber bands link your archwire to the brackets. Softer than spacers, they come in a rainbow of colors to match your style.
Glue
Dr. Morgan and Dr. Coffelt use a special adhesive to bond the brackets right onto your teeth. The brackets aren’t going anywhere!
Elastics
Need to fix a bite issue? Elastics are your new best friends. They usually stretch between hooks on the upper and lower brackets. These rubber bands help shift your jaw forward or backward, depending on what you need.
Rubber bands can be natural multitaskers, adding that extra oomph when we want to apply more pressure on specific teeth or jaw areas.
Spacers
Need a little room between your teeth? Enter spacers. These tiny rubber loops make sure there's just enough space for bands to fit later. You might hear folks call them separators, too.
